FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
EVENING LANE CLOSURES ON KUNIA ROAD
SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii - Community members should be advised of temporary, evening lane closures on Kunia Road, just south of Schofield Barracks' Lyman Gate, Jan. 23 through Feb. 21.
The lane closures will take place between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m., Monday through Saturday, to minimize potential delays for area drivers.
U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii is asking drivers for their caution and patience during this construction effort to upgrade Army sewer lines.
Signage will be in place to alert motorists. During evening construction, the road, which normally accommodates two lanes of traffic in both directions, will be reduced to one lane of traffic in both directions. All lanes will be reopened for normal traffic during the day.
Future partial-lane closures are also scheduled April 17 through May 16, for
the same hours and location.
This construction is part of a major wastewater treatment project between
the Army and contractor Aqua Engineers. The $30-million sewer upgrade and R-1 transmission line project, along with construction of and R-1 storage
reservoir and booster pumping station, will provide much-needed capacity for the wastewater collection system at Schofield Barracks. Completion of this project will also provide important modernization and efficiency upgrades for the installation.
For further information or concerns, please contact U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii Community Relations at 656-3158 or 656-3159.
Mahalo,
